‘Tis the season for Apple replacement programs, it appears. Days after the U.S. tech giant addressed ‘touch disease’ on certain iPhone 6 Plus devices, so Apple has announced a battery replacement program for iPhone 6s owners affected by unexpected shutdowns.
Apple has determined that a very small number of iPhone 6s devices may unexpectedly shut down. This is not a safety issue and only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between September and October 2015.
Apple said the problem impacts “a very small number” of iPhone 6s devices that were made between September and October last year. In those cases, the phone may unexpectedly shut down due to issues with the battery.
Owners of affected devices can go to their nearest Apple Store to check the serial number of their device — which should identify whether it is part of the malfunctioning batch — and then get a free battery replacement, if needed.
Apple said the battery problem doesn’t affect the safety of the devices like, say, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. In case you’ve been living under a stone over the past few months, Samsung was forced to recall the device and permanently cease sales due safety fears over defective batteries.
At some point in time, you may need to know your iPhone’s serial number and SIM number. And if you don’t have your own phone number memorized, well, it goes without saying that you’ll need to look that up, too. Here’s where to find these three numbers on your iPhone.
Find your phone number
Serial Number For Iphone 6
I know, I know, you probably know your cell number by heart, but if you’re anything like me, it may take months for you to memorize your number, especially if you recently changed it.
Finding Locked Iphone 6s Plus Serial Number
iOS gives you a couple different ways to find your phone number. One method is to go to Settings > Phone and then look for “My number.” This will give you your country code, area code, and number. Alternately, you can go to the Phone app, tap Contacts, then scroll all the way to the top. Tap your name and number, and you can edit your own contact card.
Find your serial number
To locate your phone’s serial number, go to the Settings app, tap General, then tap About to view various details about your phone. Scroll down and look for the “Serial Number” entry, and make a note of the alphanumeric string that follows.
Find your SIM card number
Each SIM card has a unique identifier known as an “integrated circuit card identifier,” or ICCID for short. To find this number, head back over to Settings > General > About, scroll down, and look for the ICCID. An ICCID can be quite long, so you’ll want to check and double-check it if you write it down.
Iphone 6s Plus Serial Number
Settings > General > About also provides a number of other details about your phone, such as your phone’s model number, its IMEI (another unique identifier that applies to the phone itself), and which version of iOS you’re currently running.
